Fall is here and the leaves are changing…
Time for a Fall inspired craft!
Painted mason jars are so popular right now.
You can paint them virtually any color you can think of and they will look great.
I wanted to paint mine burgundy and gold to match the colors of the trees around my house.
This is very easy to do!
What you’ll need:
- Clean and dry Mason Jars
- Acrylic paint of your choice
- Nail File or Sand paper
- Paint brush
First thing to do, is to set your jars on some newspaper or cardboard.
Squirt some paint out and start painting your jars!
You may need to paint two or three coats depending on how streaky the paint goes on.
Just remember to let each coat dry completely before painting the next coat.
After you have painted on your last coat, let your jars dry overnight.
The next step is the fun part!
Distressing the jars!
Just take your nail file or sandpaper and start roughing up some areas.
I focus on the letters and raised parts of the jar and then I sand some of the other flat areas.
And you are all done!
Add some details like tied twine or some dried flowers!
I’ve never used these with water and fresh flowers before but you can always coat the jars with some clear coat spray paint to make sure they hold up.
I’ve also used these as candles using the LED tealight candles, they are really pretty that way!
Happy Crafting!
